what is throttle by wire

Paired with the throttle-by-wire system, a new slipper/assist clutch also ensures that the lightweight naked bike doesn't put eager noobs in a bind. In addition to delivering a feather-light
When the driver presses on the accelerator pedal, the throttle plate rotates within the throttle body, opening the throttle passage to allow more air into the intake manifold, immediately drawn inside by its vacuum. Usually a mass airflow sensor measures this change and communicates it to the ECU.

Benefits of Drive by Wire (DBW) Throttle. No throttle cable issues: While a throttle cable represents a remarkably simple solution, it does have its drawbacks. Over time the steel cable can stretch, and it may require adjustments to allow proper idle and full-throttle operation.

Throttle-by-wire is a system we've pretty much accepted, and it's ubiquitous in modern cars. Brake-by-wire, however, is still not all that common, although there are production cars that have
The solenoid that most drive by wire throttle bodies have can respond extremely quickly, to the point where there really is no difference between it and a cable. ECU tunes tend to help with this, they can help tune out the delay or lag that an electronic throttle sometimes creates. I have considered a stage one tune for my jetta almost entirely
The throttle controller is controlled electrically as opposed to the older, mechanical cables that ran from the throttle pedal to the throttle body. In some instances, the electric signal is disrupted, whether due to a loose electrical wire, a relay control issue, or damage done to a sensor.
The two TPS sensors work opposite of each other. As the throttle plate opens , TPS1 voltage ranges from 0.0-5.0 Volts, while TPS2 voltage ranges from 5.0-0.0 volts. The sum of the two TPS voltages should always measure approximately 5.0 volts. These wire are: TPS1, pin # 37 (BN/V wire) of the ECM, and TPS2 pin #36 (BN/R wire) of the ECM.

on a normal standard throttle, the throttle grip pulls a cable.. the cable pulls the throttlebodies open. on a "fly by wire" throttle the throttle grip moves a sensor built into the housing. this signal goes to the ecm. ecm then uses a small electric servo to open and close the throttlebodies. instead of cable, its "by wire".
Drive by wire is a technology that replaces traditional physical connections with a wire carrying an electronic signal. For example, on gasoline engines the throttle cable normally runs from the gas pedal to the butterfly in the throttle body that limits the amount of air going into the engine.
